Unusual Florida is
a young adult novel I've in many ways been working on for years. In its
first incarnation it was called Adventures in Florida and was the
first novel I ever finished. That was during seventh grade. Then when I was
a sophomore in high school I rewrote most of it because, well, it was
written by a seventh-grader. Since I changed so much I also changed the
title, to Feud in Florida. I never finished the rewrite, and then a
couple years ago I started to rewrite again because, well, it was written by
a sophomore in high school. I haven't gotten very far on it, unfortunately,
because other projects have taken precedence. But this is one of those that
I really plan on finishing. Someday. I've even had some ideas for a whole
book series, but one step at a time.
Status: Approximately 10,000 words written; rest of the story outlined; currently not working on it. Synopsis: This is the story of three girls from very different backgrounds: Hope Fern, Cassandra Breaker, and Samantha Williamson, their respective families, and one summer together at an isolated resort in Florida. There's a touch of magic and some mystery, as well as the usual pains of life that come along with being a teenager, all set against a backdrop that is anything but normal. One summer. A million possibilities. Things will never be the same. Excerpt: Chapter One
