Year: A Haiku Series

The promise of warmth
       Beneath gray, slushy snow and
Hidden by the frost.

The stifling air waits
       Yellow lightning tears the sky,
Sending down the rain.

Red, orange, gold, brown
       Colors complement the sound
Crinkling under feet.

Clouds cover the sky
       Stiff wind rustles the bare trees
Scattered snowflakes fall.
